Tesla Referral Code: What Changed Since March 2026
I already wrote the full changelog of how the referral program evolved (here). This note is different: it's what I actually see, several months on, when I check the program today rather than reciting history. Is there anything new since March 2026, or has it settled?
The short version: it's settled, not still moving
As of July 13, 2026, the last structural change to the US program was the March 2026 removal of Model S and Model X. Since then, checking against Tesla's own refer-and-earn page before each update on this site, the core mechanics haven't shifted again: 3 months of free FSD (Supervised) on Model 3, Model Y and eligible Cybertruck, $400 off Solar, and $250 in Tesla Credits to the referrer, capped at 10 a year. If you ordered in April and I order today, we're getting the identical reward.
What's different for a buyer ordering now versus one who ordered in February
- Model S / X shoppers: the biggest practical change. A February buyer with an S or X order might have caught the tail end of an old benefit; anyone ordering now gets nothing from a referral on those two models, full stop.
- Model 3 / Y / Cybertruck buyers: essentially no change in the reward itself — the FSD-trial structure that replaced the old cash discount earlier in the year is the same today.
- Confidence in the number: this is the real shift, and it's a trust one, not a program one. Enough time has passed since March 2026 that the "is this still the current deal" question I used to get constantly has mostly quieted down — the reward has now held steady long enough to stop feeling temporary.
What I'm watching for next
Referral terms are exactly the kind of thing Tesla changes without a press release, which is the whole reason this site carries a verification date instead of a static claim. Two things I'd flag if they moved: any change to the 3-month duration itself, or Cybertruck eligibility expanding beyond Premium AWD and Cyberbeast to include the Dual Motor AWD trim (currently excluded). Neither has happened as of this update.
Why "settled" is worth saying out loud
A lot of the confusion I still see in comments and forum threads is buyers assuming the program is mid-change because it changed once, dramatically, earlier in the year. It's reasonable caution, but as of July 13, 2026 there's nothing to unwind — the number you'll see quoted on this page is the number that's shown up on every order I've checked for months. That doesn't mean check nothing; it means the order-summary check (see where exactly it shows up) is your real source of truth on the day you order, not any changelog, including mine.
The mistake this settles for good
One of the seven mistakes I catalogued in the common-mistakes list is trusting a page that still describes the pre-2026 "free supercharging" benefit. Months on, that mistake hasn't gotten any less common — old pages don't fix themselves — so the red-flag test still applies: if a page promises the old benefit, assume everything else on it is equally stale.
