Is the Tesla Referral Program Still Active in 2026? (What Changed)
Short answer: yes, the Tesla referral program is active in 2026 — Tesla changed it, it didn't end it. The confusion comes from pages that describe a version Tesla retired years ago. Here's a dated changelog so you can tell current facts from stale ones.
The current program (verified July 13, 2026)
- Buyer reward: 3 months of free FSD (Supervised) on Model 3, Model Y and eligible Cybertruck (≈ $297); $400 off Tesla Solar.
- Referrer reward: $250 in Tesla Credits per successful referral, capped at 10/year.
- Model S / Model X: removed (March 2026) — no buyer benefit.
A short changelog of how it evolved
- ~2016 era (retired): free Supercharging and "entered into a drawing for prizes" — the version you still see quoted on neglected pages. This is gone.
- Cash-discount era: upfront dollar discounts (e.g. "$1,000 off") for buyers. Also retired.
- Early 2026: Tesla replaced cash discounts with the 3-month FSD (Supervised) trial for eligible vehicles.
- March 2026: Model S and Model X removed from the US/Canada program.
Red flag test: if a "Tesla referral code" page promises "free supercharging" or a "prize drawing" for buyers, it hasn't been updated in years — don't trust its other claims either.
Why so many pages are wrong
Referral pages are often set-and-forget. Someone posts their code once, the program changes, and nobody edits the page. That's the whole reason this site stamps a verification date on every page and re-checks the facts before each publish.
How to be sure on the day you order
Program terms shift month to month. The reliable check is your own order summary: apply the referral first, then confirm the reward line appears before you pay. See how to apply a code at checkout.
